Sage at Parkhill

Sage is a restaurant located in North Berwick, on the corner of Parkhill Drive and Ernst Wanke Road. It is conveniently situated in the Coles Complex, or otherwise known as 'Parkhill Plaza', and has ample parking.

We chose Sage for their wide open spaces (pram parking) and location. I ordered a skinny latte (this Mum needs her daily dose of caffeine), 'chicken and mushroom' crepe. The crepe was good, but the latte wasn't the best I have tasted (but at the same time, not too bad either). The meals are reasonably priced.

Initially I asked for a table for 6, but when we got there we realised that although we had 6 people, we also had 6 prams! The man was a bit bewildered but was nice enough to move us to a more suitable location within the restaurant. If you are coming here with just your pram, you should be fine, but if you have, say, lots of people and lots of pram, it's probably better to book.

The service was friendly, even though the waiter dropped his sugar on us. It was a little bit of a let down that it took a while for them to come and take our order - we felt like we had been forgotten. When we requested water they only gave us a jug and 3 glasses.

They heat up your bottle for you if you are bottle feeding, and despite it getting a bit noisy as it was a full house, I felt quite comfortable breast feeding there as it is has a family atmosphere. It must also be okay considering Luke (my 3 month old) spent a majority of the time sleeping in his pram.

After discussing with the girls, we gave Sage a 6/10 rating. Will probably go back because it's close handy, but I wouldn't travel to the other side of the city for it.

Motherly Critique

Today I went out with my mothers group for the first time outside of our formal get-togethers organised by the council. One of the mothers gave me a great idea to blog about the restaurant we went to. So here it is, yet-another-Samantha-Irawan-blog.

I have found that since having a baby, my world has changed (no surprises there). This blog is dedicated to the change that comes with having to roll a pram with you everywhere. I have had to rearrange an entire coffee shop to even place an order. Perhaps, when I want to dine in at a place I should just put a sticker on my head saying "Wide load coming through".

Today we had a group of six of us. This usually isn't an issue for a restaurant - but six mothers with six prams? I think we caught them by surprise!

The intention of this blog, is to review the best, mother-friendly, pram friendly restaurants in Melbourne. I'll be looking at their accessibility (pram friendliness), their food (Important!), the service (good people deserve business), and atmosphere (appropriateness to flash people whilst breastfeeding).
